Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Enable and Use Auto Replace Feature in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop

Instead of manually correcting your word by selecting one of the predicted text, you can type faster by enabling the auto replace feature to have your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge automatically completes or replaces the word you're typing with the most probable one by tapping the space bar or a punctuation mark.

How to enable the auto replace feature?
Assuming that the predictive text feature is enabled and the input language is set to English(UK), you can turn on the auto replace feature by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the System section and then tap Language and input.
  3. Tap Samsung keyboard. Alternatively, when you're entering text, e.g., while composing a new text message, you can quickly go to the keyboard settings by long tapping the key in the left side of the space bar and then tap .
  4. Tap Auto replace(this option will be available when the predictive text feature is enabled).
  5. If Auto replace is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on. The switch turns green when the auto replace is enabled.
  6. Tap the ON/OFF switch next to English(UK) to the the right to enable it. The switch turns green when the auto replace feature for English(UK) is enabled.

How to use the auto replace feature?
You can use the following steps as the example of using this feature:
  1. Go to the app or screen where you can enter text, e.g., when composing a new text message.
  2. As you type a word, your phone will show you some predicted text at the top of the Samsung keyboard and highlight the most probable word.
  3. If the highlighted word is the word you want to type, tap the space bar or a punctuation mark to automatically complete or replace your word with the highlighted word. If the auto spacing feature is on, your phone will automatically insert a space after you tap a punctuation mark to replace your word.
  4. If the highlighted word is not the word you want to type, you can tap to view more predicted text and then tap the required word to manually correct or replace your word.
