Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Use Self-Timer in Camera App to Take Better Photos in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

In the Camera app, you're allowed to adjust the camera timer to have your phone waits for a specified time before capturing the photo. You can combine a tripod and self-timer to have a better inclusive group photo or a group selfie photo with your family and friend, or even your own photo when you don't have someone around you to take your photo because you can use the delay to get yourself in the frame. If needed, you can also set your phone to take multiple shots when using the self-timer so you can get the best result.

How to adjust the self-timer in the Camera app?
By default, the timer is set to off. Thus, you have to set it first before you can use it. Well, since the rear and front cameras have their own timer settings, as the example, we'll adjust the timer of the rear camera by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera.
  2. Tap the Timer icon at the top of the screen and then select 2 secs, 5 secs, or 10 secs. As the example, we'll select 5 secs. If needed, you can also set your phone to take multiple shots when the self-timer is on by checking the box in the left side of Take 3 shots to enable this option.
  3. The self-timer in the Camera app has been adjusted.

How to use the self-timer in the Camera app to take a better photo?
As the example, we'll take a self photo with auto mode using a tripod while the self-timer is set to 5 seconds and the take 3 shots feature is enabled by using the following steps:
  1. Open the Camera app. By default, it uses the rear camera with the auto mode.
  2. Set the phone on the tripod.
  3. Point the camera to the place where you'll be(it can be a chair, tree, etc.) If needed, you can use the AF/AE lock feature to lock the focus on this point by long tapping the screen so the focus won't change.
  4. Tap to take a picture. Your phone will count down for 5 seconds and then capture the first photo. You can use the delay time to get yourself in the photo.
  5. When the first photo has been taken, your phone will take the second and third photos after a few seconds. You can use this time to correct or change your pose.
  6. Tap the preview thumbnail to view your photo in the Gallery app.
