Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Use Color Adjustment Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

If you are a colorblind user or have problems to see/distinguish colors that have similarity which make you have difficulty when reading what's on your phone's screen, you can use the color adjustment feature in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to change the screen colors to more recognisable colors. You have to complete the initial process first to help your phone determines which colors you have difficulty with and need to be adjusted.


How to use the color adjustment feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Accessibility and then tap it.
  3. Tap Vision.
  4. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then tap Color adjustment.
  5. To enable the color adjustment feature, slide the ON/OFF switch to the right.
  6. You'll be given with some information about the proper way to do the initial color adjustment process, e.g., you have to use the default display settings, you have to do the initial process in an environment with normal indoor lighting, etc. Tap Start button to begin the process.
  7. Arrange the provided colors in order of similarity, starting from the fixed color on the bottom panel and then select the color that is most similar to the previous one. Do this until all provided colors are placed on the bottom panel. If you place a color in the wrong position, drag and drop the color to rearrange it.
  8. Once you're finished arranging the colors, tap Done button.
  9. If you can arrange and distinguish the colors well, your phone will tell you that the color adjustment is not necessary to do.
  10. If you cannot arrange and distinguish the colors, your phone will adjust the colors on the screen. When needed, you can also fine-tune the colors by tapping Camera to take a picture or Image to use the provided image. As the example, we'll select Image.
  11. If needed, slide the color adjustment bar to the right or left until you find the best settings and then tap Done button.
  12. The colors on your phone's screen have been adjusted.
  13. If you're not satisfied with the result, you can do the initial process again by tapping Reset at the top right and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
  14. Next time, you can quickly enable or disable the color adjustment feature from any screen by pressing the Home key three times quickly and then tap Color adjustment. It can be done if you have enabled the direct access feature and selected the Color adjustment option.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable the Negative Colors Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Negative colors is one of accessibility features in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that will let you invert the screen's colors so the dark colors will dominate it. You can use this feature as a night mode where the background will be in black and the text will be in white so you can easily read what's on the screen in low-light situations and prevent eye strain if you're very sensitive with light. This feature can also be used as an alternative way to conserve more battery power because using darker colors consume less power than brighter ones. As a note, this feature effects the screen only, in other words, all photos, videos, or screenshots taken while the negative colors feature is enabled will be saved in normal colors.


How to enable the negative colors feature?
As the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the direct access menu.

Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Accessibility and then tap it.
  3. Tap Vision.
  4. Scroll down the screen and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Negative colors to the right to enable this feature and invert the colors on your phone's screen.

Method #2: From the direct access menu
If you have enabled the direct access feature and selected Negative colors, you can use the following steps to quickly enable the negative colors feature from the direct access menu:
  1. On any screen, press the Home key three times quickly to open up the direct access menu and then tap Negative colors.
  2. The negative colors feature is enabled and the colors on your phone's screen will be inverted.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Enable Grayscale Mode in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Grayscale is one of accessibility features in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that can be used to turn everything on your phone's screen to black and white. Using this feature can help you save more battery power, read what's on the screen with more easily when you are in a dark/low-light environment or have certain vision difficulty. As a note, this feature effects the screen only, in other words, all photos, videos, and screenshots taken while the grayscale mode is enabled will be saved in full-color.


How to enable the grayscale mode?
As the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the direct access menu.

Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Accessibility and then tap it.
  3. Tap Vision.
  4. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Grayscale to the right to enable the grayscale mode and turn everything shown in the screen to black and white.

Method #2: From the direct access menu
If you have enabled the direct access feature and selected Grayscale, you can use the following steps to quickly enable the grayscale mode from the direct access menu:
  1. On any screen, press the Home key three times quickly to open up the direct access menu and then tap Grayscale.
  2. The grayscale mode is enabled and everything shown in the screen will be turned to black and white.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Adjust Font Size in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

By default, the font size in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is set to small. But, if you have difficulty in reading your phone with this size, you can adjust the font size in your phone to a smaller or bigger one so you can read what's on the screen better.


How to adjust the font size?
As the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the direct access menu.

Method #1: From the settings menu
You can adjust the font size from tiny to huge via the settings menu by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to find Display and then tap it.
  3. Tap Font.
  4. To adjust the font size, drag the font size adjustment bar to the left for a smaller font or to the right for a bigger font. FYI, there are some apps that don't support the huge size, therefore if you select this size, the font within those apps will automatically be displayed in the smaller size. Tap Done button to save the changes.
  5. The selected font size will be applied to your phone except for the body of the email messages and the body of the webpages.

Method #2: From the direct access menu
Assuming that you have enabled the direct access feature and added Accessibility, you can adjust the font size from tiny to extra huge via the direct access menu by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, press the Home key three times quickly to open up the direct access menu and then tap Accessibility.
  2. Tap Vision.
  3. Scroll down the screen to find Font size and then tap it.
  4. If you need bigger font than huge size, slide the ON/OFF switch next to Larger font sizes to the right to enable it. The switch turns blue when it's enabled and you'll be provided with 4 extra huge font sizes.
  5. To adjust the font size, drag the font size adjustment bar to the left for a smaller font or to the right for a bigger font. FYI, if you set the font size to the Extra huge, it'll be applied in specific apps only and other apps that don't support with this size will automatically use the font with the smaller size. Tap Done button to save the changes.
  6. The selected font size will be applied to your phone except for the body of the email messages and the body of the webpages.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Adjust Screen Timeout in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

By default, your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will automatically turn off the screen backlight when the current screen timeout is over. As the example, if the screen timeout is set to 30 seconds, means your phone will wait for 30 seconds of inactivity before turning off the screen backlight. When needed, you can adjust the screen timeout to a shorter period if you want to save more battery life or to a longer period for convenient usage.


How to adjust the screen timeout?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down to the screen to find Display and then tap it.
  3. Tap Screen timeout and then select from the following options:
    • 15 seconds
    • 30 seconds
    • 1 minute
    • 2 minutes
    • 5 minutes
    • 10 minutes
  4. The screen timeout has been adjusted.

How to enable the keep screen turned off feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Display and then tap it.
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Keep screen turned off to the right to enable it. The switch turns blue when it's enabled.
  4. Now, when your phone is in a dark place, e.g., pocket, bag, etc., and turned on accidentally, your phone will automatically turn off the screen to prevent unwanted access.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge: How to Enable Icon Backgrounds Feature in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

By default, your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge displays icons only on the home screen and apps screen. But, if you have updated your phone to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, you can turn on the icon backgrounds feature to make those icons become more stand out by displaying them with shaded background.


How to enable the icon backgrounds feature?
You can turn this feature on by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen until you find Display and then tap it.
  3. Tap Icon backgrounds.
  4. Select Icons with backgrounds to have your phone displays icons with shaded background to make them stand out on the home screen and apps screen and then tap Done button to save the changes.
  5. You can press the Home key to return to the home screen and see the changes.
